What We Do

The Services division includes Access Services, the Digitization Lab, and Resource and Discovery Services, and is responsible for many of the systems and workflows that make up the critical infrastructure behind essential library services, including library resource acquisition, access, digitization, discovery, delivery, and management. Primary activities include the management of the materials budget, license and contract negotiations, ordering and billing, cataloging and metadata creation, electronic resource authentication and management, library system configurations and maintenance, mailroom services, scanning and digitization project planning, collection analysis and management, course reserves, circulation, interlibrary loan, quick reference, student staffing, and offsite collection management in support of Carnegie Mellon's teaching and research priorities.

The operations unit at the University Libraries is responsible for the business office, facilities, and information technology across all on and off campus locations. The team puts a strong emphasis on the relationships they have forged with other units on campus. This allows them to move the process along as fast as Central Campus can go.
