Outreach for Library Teaching & Learning (OLibTeL)

The Outreach for Library Teaching & Learning (OLibTeL) group is concerned with the big picture of library teaching and learning activities. To that extent, the group oversees the overall structure and process of these activities and will act as a clearinghouse for University Libraries’ workshops and instructional activities that are delivered to Carnegie Mellon University students, staff, and faculty. Orientations Team

This group comes together to plan general (not departmental) orientation activities for incoming students and new faculty each fall (and sometimes Spring and Summer). This includes scheduling, building tutorials, discussing giveaways, and any other proposed activities related to orientations.

OER Team

The Open Educational Resources (OERs) team guides the planning, development, implementation, and assessment of support services related to OER programming, outreach, and engagement at Carnegie Mellon University.

Outreach centers on various activities that may help reach our goals for engagement goals and objectives. Engagement here refers to the creation and use of OER resources.

Evidence Synthesis Service

The University Libraries provides evidence synthesis support to CMU students, researchers and staff. Evidence synthesis includes methods such as systematic reviews and meta-analyses, scoping reviews, systematic mapping reviews, rapid reviews and other systematic or structured approaches to literature reviews.

Data and Research Consultation Service

An informal service where all students, faculty, and staff across Pittsburgh can drop by and have consultations with library experts in all things digital- and data-related. From just learning how to get working on the command line on your computer; getting an introduction to the wide array of data visualization, GIS, text analysis, and data mining research methods available; or having a brief consultation about a specific research or pedagogical project.
